“It’s easy, once you get the hang of it.”

How many times, under how many different circumstances, have you heard that?

  • Rollerskating
  • Riding a bike
  • Falling in love (ok, maybe not that one)

Now that you’ve finished treatment for your hormone-positive breast cancer, you want to rebuild your health and reduce your risk of recurrence by choosing the best diet and foods to support both of those goals.

It “should” be easy. . .I mean, you already have the hang of eating well, right?

Sadly, you’re finding it’s not easy at all (because you’ve had NO guidance!), and in fact, the surprisingly high level of difficulty makes you frustrated, overwhelmed, and if you’re honest. . .panicked.

Here’s an exercise to help make it easier!

  • Identify what it is about food that truly makes you feel panicked
    • I’m guessing it’s related to recurrence fear, yes?
  • Identify one (at least!) positive way that food supports you
    • I promise, not every bite triggers something bad
  • Identify how you want to approach your post-treatment eating
    • Hint: “strict” or “perfect” are off the table as options

Feel Better?

Your post-treatment nutrition is something you can take charge of, and after what you’ve been through, you’re ready to feel in charge of something, right

Nothing you eat (or don’t) will guarantee no recurrence, but as I like to say (and believe in my own survivorship experience), you can meet that risk halfway.

Eat as well as you can, as often as you can

Choose foods that make you feel energized and healthy

Stay committed to taking the very best care of yourself, and make rebuilding your nutritional health a priority

I promise, it’s easy once you get the hang of it.
