Feeling a little anxious about the upcoming holiday season? 

Regardless of which holiday(s) you celebrate, you may be panicked about all the celebratory treats and symbolic foods. 

Why? Because you think they don’t fit into a healthy post-treatment breast cancer diet.

My beautiful fellow survivor, know this

You’ve got to live your life, and part of living your life means celebrating holidays with special foods. It doesn’t mean, however, that you have to eat foods you don’t enjoy, and skip the ones you do. 

Here’s my PEACEFUL PLATE tip. . .make a plan in advance.

I recommend thinking through and being intentional about an upcoming food event, no matter the occasion. That way you’re in charge of your choices vs your choices being in charge of you.

Here are my top PEACEFUL PLATE tips for navigating food during any holiday:

  • Don’t skip eating to “make room” for the holiday meal
  • Schedule intentional physical activity into your day, preferably first thing
  • Hang out with family and friends in a room separate from the appetizer or dessert table
  • Remember that one day of your Grandma’s apple strudel or your Auntie’s sweet potato casserole won’t cause a breast cancer recurrence

Enjoy these beautiful celebrations by staying present and being intentional. Envision how you want to feel afterward (energized, satisfied, proud of yourself!), and take action to ensure you do.
